Mas del Saro was a stable for cows and hay and it was built from baldassarre Carlini in 1877 (but actually the building dates back to 1700). Today its our home.
Our aim was to bring back this place to its original pourpose: a real “maso” with animals and fields. Maso is the italian name for mountain farms here in Trentino. We cultivate circa 7000 mq of veggies, crops, potatoes, fruit and herbs. We cultivate our land without using any chemical product, and feed our animals organic. We try to make choices respecting the land we are “borrowing”. We do not have any certification: we used to, but then we decided it was too much of a burocratic issue. You are our “inspectors”: you can always ask to visit our fields and stable and ask where seeds and plants come from (we mostly purchase them in an organic and social nursery in Trento). We do not have many machines: if we need to use a tractor, we ask to neighbours.
We have some animals at the farm: sheeps, hens, rabbits, dogs and cats. They are defenetly lucky animals: we are vegetarian…we just get wool from our woolies, eggs from hens and…cuddle from rabbits.
Our blog’s aim is to tell our daily life story: it’s a diary from the mountains, hopfully you’ll enjoy it and will want to come and visit us.
