We have many passions and we love to share them. We organize courses, and workshops: sometimes we hold them personally (sourdough baking, drop spindle spinning, wool dyeing, home fermentation), sometimes they are held by amazing people we love to work with (knitting, dolls making, trekking around the farm, foraging). “SOURDOUGH: THE BASICS”

Finally autumn. It’s time to light up the oven again, isn’t it? And it’s also time to join the big sourdough bakers family!

A group of brad lovers around the big farm table, the warmth of the stove (if needed) and a cup of herbal tea: this is my idea of  workshop at the maso.

Together we’ll learn how to manage our liquid sourdough (much easier than you imagine), we’ll talk about flours, grains, doughs and baking methods. 

Everything made simple and handy. Because what I care the most for, is that you can replicate at home what you learn at the farm.

“TREES: BETWEEN MYTH AND HEALING POWER”

WITH IRENE HAGER, CO-FUNDER OF SUEDITROLER KRAUTERFRAUEN

The last book of Irene Hager speaks about larch and it millenary role in our culture, here in the Alps. Most of all, it brings back to our knowledge the ancient tradition of “largar”, larch resin known for it healing power.

During the workshop you’ll be walking from the village to the farm, along a path in the woods. Irene will show you trees and tell their stories, mith and legends. You’ll also learn how to use different parts of the tree in the kitchen and for family natural pharmacy.

At the end of the workshop, we’ll be eating all together around the farm table, tasting our monthly farm to table menu.

“SIMPLE HOME FERMENTATION”

Everybody is talking about fermentation…and that’s defenetly a good thing because fermentation is the most ancient, effective and healthy food conservation method. And it’s also the less consuming in terms of energy resources (and, btw, it’s also extremely cheap).

As for all my workshops at the farm, “simplicity” will be the key word. I’ll tell you all about how we ferment our veggies and fruit, how to make home made yogurt (without a yogurt machine) and we’ll talk about easy fermentations that you can make using only glass jars. We will also taste some of our fermented food. 

I am sure the day after you’ll be fermenting first thing.

“Embracing the seasons”

with Katrien Growingwildthings

Felt workshop (water and needle tecniques)

My dear friend Katrien is going to be with us at Mas del Saro, bringing a bit of her sweetness and joy. And I am even more thrilled because this time we’ll be talking (and making) about wool (which, haven’t you noticed so far) it’s my favourite subject.

WHAT : children have a natural sense of wonder and appreciation towards the beauty that surrounds them. By making a conscious effort to cultivate this openness, through the celebration of the natural world and the changing seasons throughout the year, we provide them with a basis for finding happiness in the little things in the years to come. And who says that it’s to late for grown ups to regain that sense of wonder?

During the workshop we’ll discuss different ways in which we can make this disposition towards gratitude a part of our family culture, and we’ll explore the function and the benefits of creating a nature corner in our home.
After that we’ll get to work to create a felt figurine representing a loving mother Earth; a powerful symbol for both autumn’s beautiful bounty, and the preparations for a season of rest.

HOW: each of us will create her/his own personal representation of Mother Earth. This figurine will be part of our nature corner at home, surrounded by all the natural elements that our family will decide to add.

Tecniques: water and needle felt.

WHERE: at Mas del Saro farm, from dawn to dusk (joking…it’s 9 to 5).

“Aperitivo and lunch at the maso”

Ferragosto! It’s quite an important event up here. It marks the end of full summer season, with its planting and sowing and opens the season of harvesting and collecting wood for the upcoming winter.

I do love this moment. I start to foretaste September, my favorite month, and fall, my favorite season.

So let’s celebrate Ferragosto together. Lunch with family or friends, a day trip in the mountains, relax. This is what we offer to you.

Thursday August the 15th we’ll be open for lunch, serving our monthly menu (that you ca find HERE). Plus, we’ll be serving a local, home made mountain aperitivo with sparkling wine.

“Aperibosco aperiwood at the maso”

With Paola Barducci, Trentino Mountain Leader

Every August Wednesday evening, special event at Mas del Saro. Paola Barducci (better known as Forest Paola on Instagram) will lead you from the village of Mala to Mas del Saro. You’ll walk the path through the forest and Paola will tell you about trees, wild animals, edible (and poisonous!) plants. Vea will welcome you at the farm with a special homemade aperitivo under the pergola (hands on if you are Prosecco enthusiasts!) and stories about the farm and our life up here in the mountains. Last, but not least, we’ll serve you dinner at the farm: our monthly tasting menu, with our products and completely handmade.
